  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 15

best Garmin watches 2019

Garmin wants to put his GPS technology on the wrists of everybody. Forerunner 15 is one of the most affordable watch systems for the company that uses built-in GPS to track and map your routes. The Forerunner 15 is bulkier than your traditional fitness tracker, so long as you don’t mind cabling your fitness data.

DESIGN

When he designed the Forerunner 15, Garmin didn’t go to svelte. The gadget looks like a regular sports watch with a boxy body, four physical corner buckles, and a traditional watch band.

The display measures only 55x 32 pixels. I liked the regular Forerunner 15 watchband, and it’s simple, intuitive and convenient to hold the body of the device all day long, even if the body is bulky. The model comes in big and small sizes with a variety of accented colors, either black or white.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 25

best Garmin watches 2019

The Forerunner Garmin 25 (139 $) is a running watch without frills. There is no HRM (Heart Rates Monitor), and the screen is black and white and tracks the run only. However, the Forerunner 25 is right for people who don’t need or want lots of whistles and bells and is the best fitness tracker.

DESIGN

The Forerunner 25 is available in four combinations of colours: white/pink, black/purple, black/blue and black/red. Long-lasting batteries are also provided in the larger watches.

This edition still looks like a running watch, but with a work outfit, it could blend in. The band and also the Activity button and the watch border are the secondary colour for the other three designs.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 30

best Garmin watches 2019

For the new Garmin Forerunner 30, is a substitute for-oddly enough-the Forerunner 35 is older for the device above it on the list.

This new model has similar characteristics-indeed, very similar. Everything is the same display, weight, size, and strap, and its additional primary feature being that it offers auto-detection for cycling.

In the review of the Forerunner 30, we said that it was’ a paired tracker with some serious characteristics.’ We recommend that you choose the Forerunner 35 if you find it for less than Forerunner 30-the next time you come in this list.

DESIGN

The Garmin Forerunner 30’s design is exactly the same as that of 35’s: a glass rectangle surrounded by thick bezels with a 0.93-inch diameter screen. Four buttons for menus navigation (up, down, run, and previous screen) are on the sides.

The display is extremely clear and compared to thinner devices such as the Fitbit Alta HR there is more than enough screen to display all of your indicators, which is especially important mid-run when you have sweat in your eyes and want to look at your device quickly.

The device itself is pretty thick, having to fit in the buttons, electrical and underside sensors as it does. When it comes to sleep tracking, this becomes a bit of a problem as we found it to be a distracting presence, prompting us to wake up at night.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 35

best Garmin watches 2019

The Garmin Forerunner 35 is a $200 GPS running watch which makes it considerably cheaper than high-end Garmin running watches such as the Forerunner 630 and the Forerunner 235.

But let not this price make you believe that here you are underdeveloped. It’s still a functional companion with features including an optical heart rate sensor, intelligent support for notification, activity monitoring and a lot of battery life to boot.

We put the Forerunner 35 on the treadmill and in race mode for training to see whether it is up to the task. This is our wide-ranging judgment.

DESIGN

If the budget for the Forerunner 35 shouts anything, is designed. Garmin has shown that it’s capable of making a good-looking wearable by our yearly Fitness Tracker, Vivosmart HR plus. Sadly, you can’t really say anything about the 35.

This is the Forerunner family’s ugly duckling, and undoubtedly a sports watch with a small plastic case and thick black lunette around a monochrome 128x 128 resolution screen. No touchscreen, but it is still a haven for fingerprints. If you remember how Garmin Vivoactive’s first generation looks, that is almost what you have here.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 225

best Garmin watches 2019

This is the watch for a runner. It includes both GPS for pace tracking and distance monitoring and activity monitoring for the whole day. In case they were inaccurate, I hesitated to adopt these wrist-based heart rate sensors, but the Forerunner 225 contributed to change my mind. It’s one of my favourite designer running watches, just behind the ultra-slim Vivoactive Smartwatch from Garmin.

The Forerunner 225 adds a great running watch to a lot of new features. This is the running watch I’d buy for myself. Has it been perfect? No, but to meet my needs, this comes closest.

DESIGN

In the old days, I argued that most GPS watches would not be sufficiently comfortable to be worn all day long. It’s usually big eyes. Whereas the Forerunner 225 is large and bulky, it can be rather beautiful in a certain light–at least at the wrist of a man, as the horn measures 48 mm. The largest model for Apple Watch is only 42 mm for comparison. It is also available in only one color: red black.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 230

best Garmin watches 2019

The Garmin Forerunner 230 is a running watch as standard as you’d probably find these days. This device has neither an in-built optical heart rate sensor nor extremely profound fitness metrics, which is used together with Forerunner 235 and Forerunner 630.

The Forerunner provides a rider with most tools–distance, speed, certain interval options and the ability to match with a torso. Moreover, since 2016, you receive smartwatch notifications and everyday activity tracking from your phone.

DESIGN

Whoever looks at the Forerunner 235 will know the design of the 230s. The watch is made of durable, waterproof plastic that is super light up to 50 m. It also comes with a sweat-resistant and sporting rubber sports strap.

The display itself is 215x 180 pixels low resolution. As with older forerunners, it is not monochrome and uses a very basic color selection to highlight information such as HR zones (when the chest strap is connected). The LCD screen is default very sluggish, so much so that it is impossible to read at the dark, but at the top left there is a backlight.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 620

best Garmin watches 2019

As you read in this review of Forerunner 620, standout characteristics include a real-time cardiac rate monitoring, but with a separate chest strap, clock speed and vertical oscillation stats to help you pursue a record-breaking Mo Farrah range.

Furthermore, add a great battery life and a color-responsive touchscreen, and you look at one of the best running weapons on your wrist.

From the case, you can see that the Garmin Forerunner 620 is a good package. The circular face of the watch has a good visibility size but away from the gigantic wrist-weights of the past. Even when you’re on the move, the color touchscreen is responsive and helps navigate.

DESIGN

It is by a considerable margin lighter than its predecessor (the 610). Although it is not only Garmin’s guilty to have a unique charging cable, it’s annoying to remember to take it along for you, especially if you’re a runner who may want to leave the Forerunner for a full load.

The Garmin Forerunner 620 has the most comprehensive technology suites on the working watch market, packed with everything from Wi-Fi to ANT+ to the Bluetooth Smart.

One ingenious piece of the design is that GPS acquisition is significantly faster, automatically caching satellite locations. In our tests, almost every trip we received a GPS signal within 30 seconds. Every time you connect, you upgrade the cache via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Smart.

Garmin Forerunner 620 is 50 meters waterproof, but will sadly not track your paddling movements. Fortunately, his work on terra firms makes him more than good.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 235

best Garmin watches 2019

A decent GPS tracking monitor is almost as important as your operating shoes if you are serious about running. Garmin produces many working watches, and Forerunner 235 is among the best available watches.

This is not the cheapest GPS clock on the market, but it must be taken into account whatever your running ability with a color display, good connectivity, or excellent battery life.

We have taken out Forerunner 235 to see what it is doing well and how it can improve (or, rather, what we can improve upon). This is the review here.

DESIGN

The Forerunner 235’s design is a little acquired, but subtle enough to look like a regular digital horologe. Taking into account the technology inside, this is a slim watch, that is not too far away from your wrist.

Five prominent buttons represent a small reception, and a runner is printed on a red entry button and around the plastic case are four more black function keys. The silicone strap is packed with holes for both strap and airflow adjustment–less material, the lighter watch.

  1. GARMIN VIVOACTIVE 3

best Garmin watches 2019

Garmin Vivoactive 3 offers a GPS tracking system and an array of integrated apps for maintaining tabs of a range of sporting activities, from running and cycling indoors to skiing and snowboarding, which are consistent with the legacy of Garmin sports technology.

Although the Vivoactive 3 can be focussed on fitness, it has many other functions, including smart notifications, an onboard payment method known as Garmin Pay, and both sleep and stress tracks in real time.

DESIGN

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 feels heavy enough to be premium when it is 43 g and made with a stainless steel case, but it is like a normal watch when it’s tied. It is a world far from the previous Vivoactive HR device of Garmin, which felt more like a cheap, boxy sports watch and looked more like a wearable quality.

This is the main theme for the Vivoactive 3 design, but it looks and feels like a’ normal’ clock, full of intelligent features and a lot of sensors.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 630

best Garmin watches 2019

Since it was first announced, Garmin has kept us waiting patiently, but the Forerunner 630 finally arrived. It is designed to push keen runners to new levels, personal bests and provide a wealth of extremely-detailed performance data that other fitness trackers can only fantasise of. Oh, and your Facebook updates will also be pinged in your wrist. The only drawback? It costs up to three (very good) pairs of running shoes.

DESIGN

The Forerunner 630 appears to mean business. Where the Garmin Vivoactive jack-of-all-trades chooses a basic, minimal-profile design, the Forerunner 630 is the burly sports watch every bit. It looks much harder and more robust than most of the fitness trackers I’ve experienced, and the thick rubber strap feels built to last as well. The silicone band in the Vivoactive I wear every day is much more thick and stronger than the one. However, it is not heavy and weighs just 44 g, and you don’t have to worry if it gets soaked, as it is waterproof up to 50 meters.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 735XT

best Garmin watches 2019

The Garmin Forerunner 735XT is the top triathlon watch of the company–and it’s an excellent buy for anyone who likes cycling.

In each one of these disciplines, it is worth considering it as an aspiring model as it is powerful and rich in features.

DESIGN

One of the most amazing and powerful features of the 735XT is that it’s such a sleek unit with several features. You will know that Garmin’s previous triathlete watches have been chunky stuff for trying to your wrist when you saw the 910XT or the 920XT Forerunner.

Garmin has somehow been able to put all this technology in a fine, circular model. It isn’t the world’s smallest–people will still see it as a fitness clock on their wrist–but it’s stylish than most others.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 645 MUSIC

best Garmin watches 2019

The Garmin Forerunner 645 is the watch designed to address the greatest defect of the brand and its running trackers: the lack of entertainment.

When you worked for a while, you will know that Garmin offers a few of the best running watches–but they were largely functional and showed you only performance numbers. The Forerunner 645 Music has the right bits to play as a great entertainer: 4 GB of internal memory must carry you 500 songs, and iHeartRadio and Deezer can help you access the reams of the tunes.

DESIGN

Some of the fascinating things about the Forerunner 645 is its way of design–it’s the most attractive Garmin clock, apart from some of the highly cost-effective fashion-driven Fenix models.

The amazing feature of this display is the metal rim throughout the 1,2-inch display. The Gorilla Glass 3 which covers the display not only helps protect the display, but adds an industrial, yet stylish look.

  1. GARMIN FORERUNNER 935

best Garmin watches 2019

There’s really nothing better than training with a worthy partner–and it can be the best you can bring with you, the Garmin Forerunner 935.

The Forerunner 935 is one of the best running watches on the market, whether it is the long battery life, tracked more activities than a baton or just a sturdy watch that hangs to you through good and bad.

DESIGN

When you are a fan of the Garmin range, you won’t be that surprised by the look of the Garmin Forerunner 935.In reality, it’s the Fenix 5-an unbelievably powerful Garmin wristwatch that can track anythingwith less toughened and metal and more slender rubbers all around, in a more’ Forerunner’ shell.

The metal buttons on display are the most remarkable element in an otherwise anonymous design-they are less of a fashion statement than a sophisticated model.

  1. GARMIN FENIX 5 Series

best Garmin watches 2019

The Fenix 5 is nearly the same as the Forerunner 935, but somehow it comes in a larger and more reliable framework with higher colors and the same multi-sport feature.

It can monitor everything with the same sensors, intelligent notifications and the same GPS accuracy–that is the time to look for you if you want to be just as skilled in mountain climbing.

DESIGN

The Garmin Fenix 5X is a highly appealing wristband. The face and solid metallic buttons on the exposed side are beautiful. The watch also feels heavy on the wrist at the premium level in particular if you choose a metal strap.

  1. GARMIN FENIX 5 PLUS SERIES

best Garmin watches 2019

Then the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus is in place. This is supplied with storage so that you can listen to music, Garmin Pay and color topography maps, which make the original Fenix 5 a strong upgrade.

The price is yet high, but when you’re looking at the top of the game for a running watch, this is it. It’s not as good battery life as we had hoped, but it’s strong enough to last most of your adventures.

DESIGN

The Garmin Fenix 5X Plus is the GPS looker, of course. The robust and dark finishes exposed to the sharp build and solid buttons are well suited to this. As it is not a touchscreen, the display is colored and remains open at daylight and at night to bright and audacious imagery.

The classic wrist strap is rubberized to provide a good deal of flexibility and pleasure while also feeling super strong.
